Dr Christopher Gauci, medical lead at Hive Bio

Dr Christopher Gauci is the medical lead at Hive Bio. He is a licensed and practising anaesthetist and intensive care specialist, with hospital experience in Malta and the United Kingdom, and he teaches cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

His role on the programme

On the residential week on Malta he is one of the same three clinicians who stay with guests for the whole week, with Dr Peter Muscat, consultant psychiatrist, and Audra Micallef, psychotherapist. A doctor and a nurse are with each guest throughout every session. How the week on Malta runs is set out on the programme page, and if you have a question about the medical side before applying, our team can put it to the doctors.

Medical review on this site

He has checked the clinical sections used in our articles for medical accuracy: who ketamine treatment suits, side effects and risks, what happens in a session and in the days after. Where his name appears under a section, his check covers that section. The rest of the page is written by our editorial team and checked against primary sources. If a checked section is changed, his name comes off it until he has read the new text.

Registration

He is registered with the Malta Medical Council under number 2753, and the registration can be checked on the Council’s public register of medical practitioners. The rest of the clinical team is introduced on the page about who we are.
